Barrette Sizing
Because of Maiden America's patent-pending 'Non-Slip' feature
many of our largest designs can be supported on even
the smallest barrette size - see size chart, below.
(And if you haven't seen a huge design on a little head, you're in for a treat - it's downright adorable!)

"Deer Mum" - Nature's Garden Collection
Maiden America's patent pending 'Non-Slip' Barrettes...
Our hair clips can hold even a tiny amount of 'toddler fine' hair in place.
For maximum hold, center the hair so that it is held at the center of the tension bar, where hold is the strongest.

"MINI"
XS (40mm)
Approx. 1-1/2" long.

Macy Spike Ladybug
Maiden America's smallest and best-selling barrette size. Perfect for small amounts of very fine hair. |
"SMALL"
SM (50mm)
Approx. 2" length

Isabella Rosettalini x3
This size is a bit larger than the mini. Ideal for larger amounts of very fine hair. |
"MEDIUM"
MD (60mm)
Approx. 2-1/2"

Mini Daisy Chain x4
This size is to girls with thicker hair what the 40mm - XS barrette size is to girls with small amounts of very fine hair; it's great for keeping hair up and out of the face. |
"LARGE"
LG (70mm)
Approx. 2-3/4"

Euro Baby Crystal "CC"
A great size for older girls and women, too. It holds a lot of hair. We do have a 'jumbo' size but it is not yet generally available (custom orders). |
MINI BARRETTES
XS and SM barrettes make great accents and matching pairs. We sell many of these sizes as "Pony Pairs"™ (worn over pony tails) so you can buy by the pair and save. If you have no time for fixing hair, you may to try creating a French Braid look in seconds (see Hair Ideas)'. And, if you have the time to do things like rag curls (I simply LOVE this look on little girls - they look like girls, not miniature women!!), a pair of matching hair clips used to tuck the hair away from either side of the face is adorable! Again, see "Hair Ideas" for how you can use these smaller sizes in creative ways. The fact that they stay put gives you unique advantages in styling, even for women (gorgeous accents in special occasion 'up do' hairstyles!).
Parents and Teachers Rejoice!
Can you imagine having to keep up with a class full of fallen-out hairdos and untied shoes?! It's no wonder that two common 'pet peeves' for teachers are fixing hair and tying shoes! While Maiden America's patent pending "Non-Slip" barrette is ideal for fine hair, it's also effective for girls with thicker hair - just ask my daughters' teachers! Even when Maiden America's patent pending "Non-Slip" barrettes are used as beautiful accents over pony tails, we've noticed that, after a full day of running around, the pony tail can be half fallen-out but the barrette is still up there, holding the hair (that could have otherwise have wound up hanging in the face and had to be fixed by a busy teacher!), in place. No slip hair clips are great! |
My 2¢ents
I LOVE doing retail shows - meeting parents and connecting. And I love showing them, in my own hair, just how effective our barrettes are. I ask them, "how many hairs does a little on have?" and I pull a small amount of my hair into the center of a mini barrette and hold both ends of my hair and ask them to try and slide the barrette out of my hair. My favorite moments are when there are two women - the first is usually 'polite' and the second is generally much more determined to pull it out! No matter to me - it's worth it when I see their absolute amazement. They just can't believe it - how truly unbeatable our hair clips are!
When I'm at retail shows, I sometimes hear moms tell me their child pulls everything out and won't wear barrettes. But...then they buy one...just to try. And I can't count how many of these same moms see me at future shows and tell me how much they love our products! A few have told me that their child pulled it out once but, after that, left it alone and now wears it all the time. And I just can't resist joking - PAVLOV HAD A THEORY!!! (it's good for a laugh) Seriously, our barrettes are designed to STAY PUT so it's not that they can't be pulled out...it's just that...if they do pull them out once, chances are, they likely wont do it again!
