Privacy Policy

In order to ensure your personal information is handled in a safe, secure and responsible fashion, we will not share, sell, donate or exchange your personal information.   Following is an outline of what we collect, why we collect it and how we use and protect it.

Information Gathered by Maiden America:

Whenever you shop at our online store or directly at shows, we obtain from you information we need to complete your transaction. This information may include your name, address, telephone number, driver's license number, birth date, and e-mail address. If you use a credit or pay by check, it will include your account number.  If you choose to use or participate in one of our services, promotions, surveys or clubs, we may collect additional information. For example, if you sign up for a birthday gift registry service (we don’t have one yet developed but it makes a good example for now), we will ask you for information concerning the event and your gift selections.  From your transactions and other interactions with us, we obtain information concerning the specific products or services you purchase or use.  We use this information strictly for internal use, including:

  • to complete your purchase transactions;
  • to provide the services you request;
  • to send you our catalogs and other offerings;
  • to identify your product and service preferences, so that you can be informed of new or additional products, services, and promotions that might be of interest to you;
  • to notify you of product recalls or provide other information concerning products you have purchased; and to improve our merchandise selections, customer service, and overall customer shopping experience

Information Shared by Maiden America:

None.   Nada.  Nunca.  Zilch.  Zip.  Unless you count the fact that, like all online stores, we use a merchant ‘gateway’ to process your credit card transactions (so what they may collect in that process, if anything, would obviously be beyond our control).   However, it is a SECURE transaction process and essential to doing business.  And the only other circumstance we can imagine doing otherwise would be on rare occasions, it’s feasible we may be required to disclose customer information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. Also, if the ownership of all or a part of Maiden America were to change, customer information pertinent to that business operations would likely be transferred to, or licensed for use by, the new owner.  Otherwise, your information is not shared, donated, sold, exchanged.  We use it internally and in making direct contact with YOU.

Safeguarding the information we collect:

Within Maiden America, we protect against unauthorized disclosures by limiting access only to those of our employees who need the information to do their jobs. We also inform all Maiden America employees about their responsibility to protect our customers' privacy and give them clear guidelines for adhering to our own business ethics and standards and confidentiality policies.

Your choices regarding the Use of the Information we collect:

If you prefer that we DO share, exchange, donate or sell your information, feel free to give us a call!  (It’s a rare idea these days, to do this the right way around…but, we like it!)

Email Communications:

We routinely send out email communications to our customers who register with us.   If you do NOT wish to receive these, please just let us know - there is always an "opt out" button on our communications so you can opt out anytime, as well.

Children's Privacy:

We are a pro-parent company.  Even though many modern marketers working in industries that serve children (toys, fashions, etc.) appear eager to sideline us moms and dads and other adults, we at Maiden America LIKE and SUPPORT the idea of "Mother Approved.".  We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 on our web site. Last word on the subject:

I am BIG on privacy of personal information.

As I see it, America was founded on some very important rights and ideals and I'm passionate about preserving what so many have worked so hard to offer us.  It's like my dad used to say - what's happening these days is a lot like sitting in a brightly lit room while someone is slowly and imperceptibly dimming the lights over time - SO SLOWLY, in fact, that, at some point, you find yourself sitting in complete darkness... and the sad and scary part is...YOU DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.  Little by little, when we humans go along just accepting things this way, sooner or later, the world is different... but we don't even know it because there's no memory of how it used to be.  Kids these days don't seem to know how NOT to give out all their personal information.  So, I believe it's up to those of us who do know what it is like to grow up with a respect for privacy and other important rights, to teach and remind them of how important it is to have and protect this right (not to mention some good ol' fashioned common sense!).  Long story short, that's why we make it a point to tell our customers that our explicit intention is never to sell, distribute, donate or do ANYTHING with their personal information, other than contact them directly, handle their transactions with us and ensure quality customer care.  When you buy a product or join a service with us, it's a direct relationship.
