Maiden America's New Year Resolution
Just as we make our resolutions for our personal lives, we resolve to improve and grow our family business from year to year. In 2009, our goal is to welcome new products at our online store - products that fit our core values, as a company. As we grow, we want to increasingly support products, companies and individuals making positive contributions in the world, on behalf of ALL of our children.

Non Slip Barrettes

If you're new to Maiden America's non slip hair clips, we invite you to discover for yourself why we call them "unbeatable." Our Press page has lots of reviews by moms and others. Note, while we have given trial barrettes to some bloggers, we have no say in their reviews - good/bad/ugly, it's their blog, their review. Thankfully, we've experienced a fabulous reception, time and time - and time, again!!
We believe we've done well with moms because we not only make effective, quality products, but Maiden America is a values-driven company. We make careful choices about how we do business. We work locally, to ensure greater quality control. We do not use any toxic glues in our process. And we sell our barrettes on paper packaging.

For many years, I've been in the habit of collecting gorgeous, quality textiles. To my husband's ultimate frustration, I've done so with absolutely NO IDEA what I wanted to do with them (I only knew I HAD to have them!). Seriously, if there were a Fabric Addicts Anonymous chapter near me, I would have to publicly admit, "I'm not only a member, I'm the President!"
One day, the destiny of my collection of treasures revealed itself. After having three children, I was tired of carrying baby bags. I wound up creating my first Briefcase Bag and a few Slim Cases to fit my own, personal style.
From there, the line grew with the idea of personal style in mind. I work in strict Limited Editions so that, instead of paying tons of money for something thousands of people can own, women can pay 'hairdresser prices' and own unique, high quality handbags that make a much more personal statement. As an artist, it allows me to constantly move on to new shapes, textures and combinations. Ultimately, I love knowing that these gorgeous fabrics I've "invested in" over the years are being put to both beautiful and practical use.

The BEST loved pets wear...

A lovely story comes from customer Cindius Romney. She rescued an abused dog from a shelter. When taking her dog on walks, people didn't respond well - they rather backed away. It wasn't that her dog was mean - she just didn't seem very "approachable". Then, Cindius put one of our barrettes into her dog's hair. She immediately noticed people were responding to her dog in a totally new way - approaching her as if she were the most adorable creature in the world; leaning down to pet her without hesitation. And, the most lovely part? Cindius says she has also seen a positive change in her dog's behavior, as a result of this newfound attention!
